NEARLY A MONTH HAS GONE by since the last post. What happened?
Here’s a brief list:
–Several days ago, I got word that my Great Uncle Pete was diagnosed with cancer. He’s one of the few relatives I have who’s interesting enough to chronicle (and fits the standard subject matter of this website). In fact, I have. Before rebooting CritelliComedy.com last May, I wrote about his birthday party last fall in Vegas, and a follow-up piece on the summer I spent working carpentry, Pete’s near-lifelong profession. I’m going to go dig those up, update them, and republish them shortly as a small tribute.
–I learned this website is more widely read than I imagined; I’ve gotten gun-shy about publishing certain things.
–I went to Lake Tahoe for New Years with my old roommate Matt and a lot of good-looking girls who were unavailable for various reasons (boyfriend, boyfriend, only dates black guys, etc). I made a lot of under-the-radar comments throughout the weekend at the latter girl’s expense (“Oh, there‘s the black pepper! I’m surprised L_____ didn’t know where this was…”), and appreciated coming home from New England only to drive 8 hours to the coldest part of California I’ve been so far.
8 hours doesn’t seem bad in retrospect. The drive back took 15.
